Chaplaincy at Halinda
In the role of chaplain at our school is Merryn, who is part of the Well-being Team that works to support the wellbeing of the student, teacher and parent/carer community of Halinda.
Through chaplaincy at Halinda, our school has been able to:
- continue to facilitate parent support groups, to lessen families sense of isolation and stress
-to enhance wellbeing of students through relationship and providing emotional support
-offer pastoral care for students who struggle with mental health issues and their families
-facilitate wellbeing programs for our high school students that focuses on identity, positivity, resilience, emotional regulation and social skills
-increase the regularity of programs such as the breakfast club
-facilitate recess and lunch activities in order to engage students in group activities, build peer relationships, introduce different sports, games and creative expression for student enjoyment
-assist the training up of senior school students via the mini Woolworths program in order to boost our young people's confidence and skills as they work toward graduating and future career opportunities
-provide a well-being newsletter to our parent and carer community that fosters connection between school and families as well as offers external supports and services available.
Merryn is available to contact through our school office Tuesday-Friday of the school term, 8:30am-2pm.
